When I (Lorraine) first met Boris in the Tikki bar, I thought what a miserable, grumpy, mean, old man he was. How very wrong I was. He became a real friend who was so funny, very generous and certainly never acted his age. Boris very soon became such a good friend of ours. We so loved to have Boris and Sue for a Sunday roast. Oh how he loved his roast dinners – especially roast lamb. The only time we knew Boris when he was quiet, was when he was eating and then you knew he was enjoying his meal. At the end of his meal, he put his knife and fork down and said “That was bloody good”. Our mission was accomplished. A very happy guest and if Boris was happy then everybody else was! There are so very happy memories of impromptu gatherings at Doreen’s either with Rio Mar “reprobates” or visitors of Doreen’s when Boris “held Court”. His chair was in front of the stairs in the lounge and everybody listened in earnest whilst he argued, pontificated, cajoled, serenaded, laughed, drank, gesticulated - And everybody listened! A good time was always had by all. He drank us out of house and home on many occasions and then moaned the next day, there wasn’t enough! But when he and Sue invited you to their home for drinks or celebrations of any kind, the welcome was so warm, comforting and you felt at home and also the food and drink flowed and so good it was too. Boris, our friend, we will miss you so much. Rio Mar will never be the same again. We have so many many memories of such happy times together in our homes, the Tikki Bar, golfing, all the bars and restaurants around Rio Mar. You will never be forgotten and we hope you are hitting holes-in-one in that great golf course up there and the 19th hole is as good as the times you had in the Tikki Bar with us all. God bless you Boris, With so much love Lorraine, David, Danielle and Family Xxx
